BRAND SPOTLIGHT - Finery London

Let me introduce to you a brand that I have recently stumbled upon in my internet escapades. Finery London is the name and boy oh boy isn't it just great. You probably already know of it but I am probably just super late to the bandwagon.

Their aesthetic is just *thumbs up*. The use of clean lines and no fuss cuts, they embody simplicity in my eyes. The simpleness of it is not boring due to the modern and creative lines that they use. And the plus side is - it's affordable but it doesn't look it! The negative side is that there isn't an actual shop and it is only available online at the moment.

I have created a little collage for you guys to show some of my favourite pieces and some of it is even on sale!

archigram city of the future

Howdy everyone, as an architecture student archigram is one of those names you hear often during your university education. Archigram was a group that drew inspirations from technology to design for the future, they had designed hypothetical models of cities which focused on modern aspects such as consumerism, pop culture, and politics.

Enough of the essay like description, I wanted to do this blogspot to show my love for archigram, although I am not the biggest expert in all things archigram I really admire their work. Since this blog is more focused on fashion I decided to try and link an outfit to the context of archigram. The outfit I have chosen to link is what some may say as quite a boring outfit, I say it's a simple outfit, this outfit is what I imagine inhabitants of this archigram futuristic city would wear, something simple, somewhat juxtaposing the colourful nature of the structures.

baggy waggy pants

I am in love with the baggy pants/cullotes trend at the moment. That 'cool art teacher' look (the words of chelsea from chelseawears) is my vibe for this year. Rachel Comey ss16  is the shit! This collection has it all... I really wish that Rachel Comey wasn't so expensive so that I can actually buy it.

As an avid wearer of tight ass skinny jeans this trend is quite unusual, since I am not the size of a model it could drown me in fabric but for some reason I feel like it still works. When I imagine people look at me I think that they see a bunch of fabric floating and walking on its own down the street.

The search is still ongoing, I will have my very own pair of creamy culottes or even a lived in denim colour style (thumbs up emoji).

doodle outfit

As you can see I have still yet to use my actual camera but phones are just a lot more convenient. I have been experimenting on doodling my outfit of the day and writing a small entry of what I did that day and I'm really enjoying it.

These two outfits are an example of my uniform recently, very casual but once you put on a tailored long coat you look instantly put together. I wore quite a few new purchases that I made recently, like the cos navy jumper (which I have been wearing non-stop), the &otherstories grey slip ons, and my new cos tie up blouse. Its starting to get bone numbingly cold and although I do love layering, sometimes the bulkiness is tiring, but cold is not as bad as rain. Rain is the worst, I literally do not have an umbrella or a nice jacket with a hood. You would think I would be prepared for such weather since I have lived in England for a long time, but nope I do not learn. To be quite honest umbrellas are only useful for a day and then they break and it's so difficult to get a coat with a hood that isn't ugly.

NEW YEAR, new me?

Hello internet people, happy new year! I honestly cannot believe it's already 2016, it sort of scares me how I'm one step closer to actually have to be a real adult. My blogpost title says "new year, new me?", this year is the year to step my style game up, away is the lazy looks me and make way for the fresh.

I already know what direction I want to go to and I am really loving the minimalist side, not only style but also my lifestyle. I feel like my room is so full of stuff, stuff I have been collecting for 20 years. Even though I have decluttered a lot of stuff since moving to uni I still feel like I have to many things, how can one person have so many things???? Also, for me, although I really love the clean, extreme minimalist clothing style, I think what would be more approachable is to do it my way, a little less harsh and more relaxed with colour and pattern, since I do like to occasionally wear some colour.

Here are some looks that I am loving. The navy on navy look is *forefinger on thumb emoji*.

I have also been shopping quite a lot during this sales period and although it has been hard on the old bank account and it's not within the code of minimalism, I am in a sense refreshing my wardrobe in a direction to becoming a versatile one which will lead me to not want to shop even more, which is my goal at the moment. My new thing is that if I buy something I have to get rid of one thing, whether it's donating or ebaying (which I have been doing a lot recently to fund my shopping escapades).

I am now on a spending ban until next month on my birthday, which will start tomorrow because I really want to bid on something on ebay which ends tonight ahahha.

haute couture dior

Haute couture season just passed. I should've posted this when it was actually happening but I've been lazy. In this post I blab on about Dior's haute couture a/w collection.

I admit I know no more about fashion than the next person but I know what I like and this collection fits my bill. In my mind Dior has always had that aura of femininity and grace which Raf Simmons has successfully implemented in this collection, but I also feel that he has added an "edge" (a word I happen to think is so cringe) to Dior also.

The dress above with the low v'neck and open sides is rather provocative for Dior but not too much to be trashy (although Dior can never really be trashy).

summer a la the row

So, The Row...who knew the girl crushes of my childhood would create such a beautiful brand. I remember whenever I would go to ASDA with my parents I begged them to buy me a MaryKate and Ashley VHS. I think I nearly owned all of them, but my favourite was Our Lips are Sealed (where they witness a bank robbery and had to placed in witness protection programme and sent to Australia) and Holiday In the Sun (Some thing to do with the Bahamas, boys, and the sun).
